I knew that I wanted to treat planning a styled shoot like I would treat planning a real-life event. That meant assembling an all-star team of talented industry pros.
When Kelly Golia Events was still a twinkle in my eye, I ran the idea by my own wedding-photographer-turned-wonderful-friend Emily Tebbetts who has given me so much confidence and support throughout this entire process. Emily and I met when a friend suggested I hire her to photograph my own wedding, which turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. Not only is she the kindest person you'll ever meet, Emily is stunningly talented. I swear, this girl works magic with a camera and the photos she captures are nothing short of breathtaking. She was oh-so-supportive of my plans to go pro with wedding planning, and was immediately on board to collaborate on this styled shoot.
With Emily on board, I knew exactly the ladies I wanted to work with on hair and makeup: Sarah of Red Carpet Ready by Sarah and Jocelyn of Jocelyn Mariah Makeup Artistry. These ladies are both insanely talented and, you guessed it, were the beauty team for my own wedding. They really are the best of the best, and upon meeting each of them I instantly knew that I had made some lifelong friends. When I asked them to be a part of this shoot, they didn't hesitate to hop on board which filled my heart with so much gratitude. Even Jocelyn, who had just had a sweet (and might I add, SO stinkin' cute) baby just a couple of weeks earlier didn't hesitate for one single second. Little baby J. even got to tag along for the shoot and was the best assistant!
Next step: finding someone to show off these ladies' talents and an oh-so-gorgeous dress from BHLDN. Emily knew just the person: her friend and a super talented model, Meredith Adelaide. Not only is Meredith absolutely stunning, talented, and professional, she is super cool and down to earth. We spent the afternoon in awe as she shared stories of her experiences and I had an absolute blast getting to know her.
With most of the team assembled, we needed one more very important element: flowers. I'm a sucker for gorgeous blooms and totally awestruck by the arrangements I've seen flooding my Instagram feed, but I didn't happen to have any direct connections in the floral industry. I had, however, been following Les Fleurs on Instagram and knew that having them be a part of this shoot would be a dream come true. I'm going to be honest you guys... I was really nervous to ask them to collaborate. After all, their work is gorgeous and they are such an established business. I was worried that they'd never take a chance on me, a brand new, "wannabe" wedding planner. Boy, was I wrong. These ladies are super kind, and to my utter joy, they were really excited to work on this shoot! They were incredible to work with every step of the way, and as you can see, they work magic with flowers. So. Beautiful.
All in all, putting together this styled shoot gave me so much confidence and taught me so many lessons, the most important of which being that you're only as good as your team. These ladies will forever be my "dream team" and I'm so honored that they took a chance on me and made this collaboration something beautiful and fun. I had a blast spending the afternoon doing what I love alongside some of the most talented, driven, and all-around-wonderful women I have ever met. I was sure to take a moment to soak it all in and I've truly never felt so inspired.
